What Is the Diversity Advisory Council? Representatives from Front Line Staff, Supervisors, Administration, Unions and the Board of Directors have come together to form the Diversity Advisory Council (DAC) to work towards improving diversity at Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties (CMHA-CEI). Original members included Janet Bodiford, Deborah Darcy, John Fauver, Jeff Fleming, Jackie Guyer, Joyce Hageman, Nathan Hall, Stephen Manchester, Lauren Radke, Jerrod Schaefer, Robert Sheehan, Winston Thomas, Stephanie Tighe, Yvonne Williams, and Matt Wojack. The Council recognizes the importance of the traditional definition of diversity as race and gender, and we also include culture, age, point of view, experience, education among others in our definition of diversity. The DAC developed, and the Board of Directors has approved a Statement on Diversity. CMHA-CEI has a long-standing equal employment opportunity (EEO) policy and program as well as a number of cultural competency initiatives. The Diversity Advisory Council recognizes these efforts have helped but have not taken the agency as far as it needs to go in diversity. Membership on the Diversity Advisory Council is currently open to all CMHA-CEI employees. If you are interested in working to improve diversity throughout CMHA-CEI, write a brief statement of why you want to be on the Diversity Advisory Council and either email it or send it to: |
