Welcome to the CMHA-CEI Diversity Pages. The
Diversity Advisory Council (the "DAC"),
along with the CMHA-CEI Board of Directors, Leadership, Staff and Labor, have
been working together since 2004 for greater diversity within CMHA-CEI. This
combined effort is the CMHA-CEI Diversity Initiative. The Diversity Advisory
Council is always open to your comments and suggestions. Please feel free to
contact the DAC.
The Board of Directors, the Executive Director, and Labor
Representatives have publicly voiced their support for the Diversity

· Executive
Director, Bob Sheehan:

commitment to diversity. As you may know, for a long time, our Agency has

recruitment program, regular Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) reviews, a
Limited English Proficiency (LEP) policy, interpreter services,
multi-language printed materials, among others. These efforts, while
productive, have not taken our organization as far as it needs to go
relative to diversity and cultural competence.

· OPEIU
Local 459 Representative, Jeffery Fleming:
Occasionally, a member will ask why
Local 459 is active in efforts to promote diversity in the work place. They
wonder why their Union doesn’t focus exclusively on filing grievances and
negotiating better wages and benefits at the bargaining table.
Unions formed so that employees could band together
to protect workers rights. Insuring everyone is treated fairly regardless of
their background is a central part of this mission.
