NEIGHBORHOOD COFFEES/MEETINGS

Make up (or get from CMH) a hand out to give folks during the coffee.  It should be short, outlining the issues and the action that your neighbors can take to impact the issue.

Set a date, time (beginning and ending), and location for the event.

Identify suitable meeting place, or target neighborhood. Should be in a central location, accessible by bus line, and supportive by community members.

Invite potentially interested neighbors, friends, community/natural leaders, etc., letting them know the topic in a general way (such as: “I am getting some neighbors together to talk about what the state’s budget situation will do to mental health services in this community”)

You can do the inviting by word-of-mouth or by mailing or dropping off short invitations. If written invitations are used, simply list the topic (such as noted above), the date, time, and location. If refreshments will be served, let the invitees know that. Written information can also include leaflets, posters, newsletters, and web postings
