CMHA-CEI offers many volunteer opportunities.

Skills Required:

Interest in assisting adults with developmental disabilities with specific activities. Ability to initiate and organize a project/activity from beginning to end with staff assistance. Ability to adjust projects/activities to the abilities of the consumers participating and to engage the consumer. Communication skills to interact with both the consumers and the staff. Reliability a must.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 

  • Police clearance check is required. 

  • Two Tuberculosis (TB) skin tests within the first two weeks of orientation (agency provided).

  • Must attend a 4-5 hour Agency Orientation (7:45 a.m. - approximately 12:30 p.m.)

  • Must attend Recipient Rights training (8:00 -3:00 at Remy Training Unit).

  • Additional training may be required.

Frequency/Time Commitment/Schedule:

  • 1 -3 hours, 1 time per week (or upon availability and interest of the volunteer).

  •  Available hours, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am – 3pm. 

  • Minimum of a three month commitment.

Volunteers will be provided any additional on-site training (as needed).
Volunteers will always be in the presence of a CMHA-CEI staff.
Volunteers will not drive our consumers.
