Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton Eaton and Ingham Counties is partnering with Treatment Foster Care Oregon to bring a new evidenced based treatment model to Michigan to help at-risk youth with severe mental illnesses

Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) was developed as an alternative to institutional, residential, and group care placements for children and youth with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. We are serving children age 7-11 in the mental health care setting who have a family to return to.  There are many families struggling to maintain placement of their child at home and we are offering them an alternative to ensure they stay in their own communities.

The two main goals of TFCO are to create opportunities for youth to successfully live in a family setting and to simultaneously help parents (or other long-term family resource) provide effective parenting

Youth served in TFCO reside in the TFCO treatment home for approximately 6-9 months. These Therapeutic Foster Parents receive initial and ongoing training, weekly group support, and in-the-moment coaching from the treatment team.

Youth in TFCO receive weekly support to navigate the program, practice of problem-solving and coping skills along with other skills individualized for their particular needs.

Families the youth will return to participate in weekly services, which focus on coaching them through key techniques to regain confidence and effectiveness with their youth.

The TFCO program staff are available 24/7 to allow for quick and effective responses to situations and behaviors.

We love our therapist.  She has become a support to our whole family.  I feel I can trust her and share my hardest moments.  Our child feels safe talking with her and she understand when he is too anxious.  My husband and other two children also open up to her.  I am truly grateful for her support.
