Diversity and Equity Statement
The Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties (CMHA-CEI) and its Board of Directors, staff and volunteers are committed to recognizing, enhancing and supporting diversity in all forms. CMHA-CEI's mission is to be an advocate, catalyst, thought leader and convener; fostering the transformation of all aspects of community life, eliminating inequities, and promoting the common good for all. In order to do this, we will:
- Commit that the Board, Leadership, staff and volunteers embrace the values of mutual respect and dignity for all persons by ensuring we are providing an environment that welcomes equality and diversity, allowing us to create a culture of shared values and cross cultural understanding.
- Practice self-awareness and openness to be responsive and respectful in communication with consumers, staff, outside organizations and the community.
- Develop strong collaboration and partnerships within the community to ensure we are responsive to the diversity and equity needs throughout the tri-county region.
- Continually monitor and evaluate our internal practices and policies to ensure we are culturally competent and provide an environment free from discrimination and harassment.
- Understand that in order for CMHA-CEI to remain competitive and to attract and retain a workforce with the richness of knowledge, skills and abilities, it is essential that we bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
CMHA-CEI is committed to expanding diversity and inclusion, and seeks a diverse workforce, along a number of dimensions to include, race, color, religion/creed, national origin, sex, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, citizenship, culture, perspective, experiences, education, gender identity and sexual orientation. One of our many goals is to foster a workforce which reflects the community we serve.
We embrace and encourage the differences that make up Clinton, Eaton, Ingham counties and we will continue 'Learning from each other...
