The CMHA-CEI Crisis Services Department provides 24 hour, seven day per week, triage for persons experiencing a psychiatric emergency. The Crisis Services Department provides evaluation and screening for inpatient psychiatric hospital admission for persons with Medicaid or those who are uninsured. Persons with commercial mental health coverage are typically directed to contact their health plan for authorization should psychiatric hospitalization be necessary. Crisis Services staff may assist with various aspects of the voluntary or involuntary psychiatric admission process, and may provide limited assistance to family members or others seeking to have a person evaluated for hospitalization. Crisis Services staff work closely with the Adult Mental Health Services Crisis Recovery Team to seek alternatives to psychiatric hospitalization if and when such would be reasonable. The Crisis Services Department evaluates persons who are medically stabilized first, and staff work closely with area hospital emergency departments to ensure persons are suitable candidates for mental health evaluation and that a medical condition does not result in an inaccurate mental health diagnosis.

We are a state-certified intensive crisis stabilization program, which means that our highly trained staff have a wide variety of specialized services available to respond to your family's needs.

Our Crisis Walk-In Centers offer:

- Immediate crisis intervention for mental health and substance use issues
- Strengths-based family-centered approach that is individualized and flexible
- Follow-up care and linking to community services
- Collaboration, connection, and follow-up care with family and community providers
- Quick access to ongoing services
Mobile Crisis Response
Monday - Friday 10:00 am - 10:00 pm
Mobile Crisis Response provides crisis intervention, connection to services, and prescreens for psychiatric hospitalization. It also:
- Focuses on families and youth determining what the crisis is
- Provides immediate intervention
- Helps to keep children in the family home
- Aids in stabilization of behaviors
- Offers the ability to access any identified community-based supports, resources, and services
Urgent Care Programs
Urgent Care Programs provide connection to services and:
- Immediate assignment to a therapist
- Intensive short-term therapy and transfer to ongoing services
- Collaboration with care providers and community partners
- Continued development of intensive crisis & safety plan
