What is a behavioral health crisis?
Behavioral health is broad and ranges from mental health diagnoses like anxiety or depression, to substance use and PTSD. A behavioral health crisis is defined as “any situation in which a person’s behavior puts them at risk of hurting themselves or others and/or prevents them from being able to care for themselves or function effectively in the community,” according to the National Alliance on Mental Health. The Crisis Care Center provides specialized support and coordination to those who need care at all stages of a crisis: prevention, intervention, and continued care.

- Bridges Crisis Unit (Crisis Residential Program)
- Bridges Crisis Unit (BCU) is a 16 bed, 24-hour intensive crisis residential program designed to provide concentrated, comprehensive services and supports to individuals who are recovering from an acute psychiatric crisis. Crisis residential services are intended to provide a short-term alternative to inpatient psychiatric services for people experiencing an acute psychiatric crisis. Services may only be used to avert an inpatient psychiatric admission, or to shorten the length of an inpatient stay. BCU staff includes psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, peer support specialists and paraprofessionals.
- The Recovery Center (Withdrawal Management Services)
- The Recovery Center is a 10 bed detoxification program designed to provide a safe, caring environment that assists individuals during the detox process from alcohol and other drugs, while promoting health and well-being. All interested individuals will have a presumptive eligibility determination completed by staff for appropriateness. After a person is stabilized and no longer at risk for withdrawal, The Recovery Center supports continued recovery efforts by connecting the individual with next level of care treatment providers, such as substance use disorder residential or outpatient treatment services and support groups.
- Transfer Services:
- Transfers to next level of care for men can be made to residential substance use disorder treatment at the CMHA-CEI, Cedar Roots Recovery in Mason, Michigan.
